FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Toronto, March 18, 2006 - This amateur gardener shows how one can bring intrigue and
entertainment to the home garden in an informative new book about how to grow square watermelons. Maurice Chin's interest in this odd fruit began two years ago when he learned that Japanese farmers have perfected the process and were already growing
them commercially.

What he first thought was going to be a fun and entertaining garden project turned out to be a personal quest to find the formula to produce his own square watermelon.

Useful "how to" information was hard to find, but he experimented and persisteduntil he finally discovered a way to train naturally round watermelons to become square. His book, "Grow Your Own Square Watermelon", documents the process he used to successfully produce his prize fruit.

What he learned from his experience is that those who know how to grow square
watermelon commercially aren't about to reveal this knowledge, yet, there is so much
fun to be had in growing this odd fruit in a home garden. The backyard gardener
says his goal is to see his own search for garden entertainment spread to others and
he promotes this approach on the book's web site at
http://www.MySquareWatermelon.com/book.

To help others to grow their own square watermelons, the book shows his process step
by step. Readers learn to choose the correct watermelon type, determine the optimum
square size, and what to do with the peculiar fruit once they have grown it.

It is not the first time that Maurice Chin has taken on an unusual plant challenge.
"I spent time on my parents farm and love dabbling with plants," he says. "On one
occasion I seeded a coconut and grew the large plant in my small apartment in
Montreal, Canada." It was the source for many off-the-wall conversations.

"Grow Your Own Square Watermelon" is available in both print and as a downloadable
book on the internet.
